Who We Are
Capital Appliance Repair’s electric stove, range, and induction cooktop diagnostic and repair service for Ottawa homeowners, covering burner and element failures, oven temperature faults, control board and panel replacement, glass cooktop replacement, induction zone failures, and stove installation across all major brands.
Our team of technicians has been servicing Ottawa stoves for over 15 years. Most repairs come with a limited warranty of up to 1 year on both parts and labour: stronger coverage than the 30 to 90 days on parts only that most Ottawa repair companies offer. Technicians carry common stove parts on every vehicle, give an upfront quote after diagnosis before starting any work, and are available 7 days a week across Ottawa, Kanata, Nepean, Barrhaven, Orleans, and Stittsville.
Capital Appliance Repair services electric stoves, electric ranges, ceramic cooktops, and induction cooktops. For gas appliances requiring gas line work, a certified gas technician is required.
A stove that won’t heat, has a dead burner zone, or shows error codes is unusable, but buying a new range when a single component has failed is often a significant, unnecessary expense. The diagnosis tells you exactly what failed and what the repair costs before you commit to anything.
Why Ottawa Homeowners Call Capital Appliance Repair for Stove and Range Repair
We have been fixing Ottawa electric stoves and ranges for over 15 years. Burner element failures, control board faults, glass cooktop damage, induction zone failures: Capital technicians carry parts for the most common causes and diagnose before quoting. Here is what that looks like in practice.
🛡 Limited Warranty: Up to 1 Year on Parts and Labour
Capital Appliance Repair backs most stove repairs with a limited warranty of up to 1 year covering both parts and labour. If the same problem returns within the warranty period, our technicians return at no additional charge. Most Ottawa appliance repair companies offer 30 to 90 days on parts only.
🔌 Induction Cooktop Repair: Including Control Board Sourcing
Induction cooktop repairs require specialized knowledge and access to parts that most Ottawa appliance repair companies don’t carry. Capital Appliance Repair repairs induction zone failures, control board faults, and touch panel issues across LG, Samsung, GE Profile, Kenmore Elite, and other induction brands.
🕰️ Old and Discontinued Stoves: Parts Sourced When Possible
Capital Appliance Repair repairs stoves other Ottawa companies refuse to touch. This includes 17-year-old Dacor ranges that competitors turned away, 32-year-old electric ranges where control units were located and replaced, and 15-year-old stoves where parts were sourced same-week. When a part genuinely can’t be found, the technician says so after checking with suppliers, not as a default answer given before looking.
🔧 Parts on the Truck for Same-Visit Repairs
Capital Appliance Repair technicians carry common stove parts (burner elements, infinite switches, thermal fuses, door gaskets) on every service vehicle. When the part is on the truck, the repair is completed the same visit. When parts need ordering, technicians source them quickly and contact customers as soon as they arrive.
✓ Upfront Quote Before Work Starts
After diagnosing the fault, the technician provides the full cost (parts and labour) before any work begins. No work proceeds without your approval. If the repair cost doesn’t make sense for your stove’s age and condition, the technician says so. Capital Appliance Repair has recommended that customers accept manufacturer buybacks rather than proceed with expensive repairs when that was the better outcome.
⭐ Technicians Go Beyond the Repair
Capital Appliance Repair technicians routinely do more than fix the stated fault. This includes cleaning accumulated grime around cooktop surfaces as part of glass replacement work, setting the stove clock and explaining controls after a panel repair, and advising customers on what to watch for in the future and what component might need attention next. These are standard parts of the visit, not charged extras.
🌐 Holiday and Weekend Service: Bilingual French and English
Capital Appliance Repair dispatches technicians on weekends, holidays, and Easter weekend for stove repairs across Ottawa. French-speaking technicians are available on request. Service runs 7 days a week with same-day and next-day appointments available throughout Ottawa and surrounding areas.
💻 Book Online and Save $25 on Any Repair
Book your service call at capitalappliancerepair.ca and $25 is automatically deducted from your repair. No code required. The discount applies when you schedule through the website.
📱 Arrival Time Confirmation Before Every Visit
The technician calls or texts ahead with an estimated arrival time before every service call. You are not left waiting in a vague four-hour window: you know when to expect the technician, and the booking confirmation is sent by email.

Every Electric Stove, Range, and Induction Cooktop Problem We Fix in Ottawa
Capital Appliance Repair handles the full range of electric stove and range faults across all major brands. Here is what each repair category involves and how the diagnosis works before any part is ordered or replaced.
🔥 Burner or Element Not Heating: One Zone or All Zones
A burner that doesn’t heat has a fault in one of three places: the element itself, the infinite switch that controls heat level, or the terminal block at the back of the stove. A burner that heats on one setting but not others points to the infinite switch. No heat at all usually means a failed element or broken terminal connection. Our technicians test element resistance before ordering a replacement, since a visual check alone doesn’t confirm failure.
🌡️ Oven Not Heating or Not Reaching Temperature
Uneven heating or failure to reach set temperature points to the bake element, temperature sensor, or control board. The bake element runs along the bottom of the cavity and typically shows a burn mark or break when it fails. A temperature sensor drifted out of calibration causes the oven to run 25 to 50 degrees off target with no visible sign. Our technicians test sensor resistance before recommending a control board replacement, since the sensor is the more likely cause.
⚡ Stove Won't Turn On: No Power Response
A stove with no response when controls are activated has a fault in the power supply chain or internal wiring. The terminal block at the back is the most common failure point: the connection between house wiring and the stove can arc and burn, cutting power even though the breaker appears normal. Our technicians inspect the terminal block on every no-power diagnosis, since a burned terminal block is a fire risk that should not be left in place.
✨ Induction Cooktop Not Working: Zone Failures and Control Board Faults
Induction cooktops fail differently than conventional electric ranges. Individual zone failures occur when the IGBT transistor driving that zone burns out, killing one burner while leaving others functional. Full cooktop failures with error codes point to the main control board. Touch panel failures cause erratic or unresponsive controls. Our repairs induction cooktops across LG, Samsung, GE Profile, Kenmore Elite, and other brands, sourcing induction-specific control boards and IGBT components most Ottawa repair companies won’t attempt to find.
🪟 Glass Cooktop Cracked or Shattered: Full Glass Replacement
A cracked or shattered glass cooktop can’t be used safely and must be replaced. Capital Appliance Repair orders replacement glass panels for ceramic and induction surfaces, installs the new glass, and cleans the cooktop area as part of the installation. Glass cooktop replacement is labour-intensive: the cooktop frame must be fully disassembled to remove and reseat the glass.
🖥️ Control Panel or Control Board Failure
A control panel that’s unresponsive or showing continuous errors has either a failed touchpad membrane or a failed control board. Touchpad failures are common on stoves 8 to 12 years old: the membrane wears and stops transmitting inputs. Control board failures are more expensive but less common. Our technicians test the touchpad separately before recommending a board replacement, since the touchpad is significantly cheaper and is the more likely cause. Board sourcing for discontinued models is included.
💨 Stove Cooling Fan or Convection Fan Not Working
Electric stoves with convection use two fans: a cooling fan that runs during and after the oven cycle to prevent the control board from overheating, and a convection fan that circulates hot air inside the cavity. A failed cooling fan can cause the control board to overheat and produce errors. A failed convection fan causes uneven baking. Capital Appliance Repair diagnoses both fan types and replaces motors and fan assemblies across all major electric range brands.
🔊 Burner Overheating or Can't Maintain Temperature
A burner that gets too hot on low settings or can’t hold a consistent temperature has a failed infinite switch. The infinite switch is the component that cycles power on and off to regulate heat level: when it fails, it loses the ability to control current correctly and the burner either maxes out or behaves unpredictably. Infinite switch replacement is a straightforward repair that our technicians complete on the same visit in most cases since the switch is a commonly stocked part.
🌫️ Burner Element Smoking or Burning Smell
A burner element that produces smoke, sparks, or a burning smell has a visible or internal break in the heating coil. Running a damaged element risks arcing, which can damage the terminal connection or the wiring behind the burner receptacle. Our technicians replace the element and inspect the receptacle and terminal connections for damage before the repair is complete, since a damaged receptacle will burn out a new element quickly if left in place.
❌ Error Codes on Samsung, LG, GE, and Whirlpool Ranges
Modern electric ranges display error codes when a sensor or component reports a fault. LG F-3 and F-4 indicate temperature sensor issues. Samsung SE and 5E flag control panel faults. Whirlpool F codes map to specific control system failures. Our technicians interpret codes against manufacturer service documentation rather than defaulting to a control board replacement, which is the most expensive component and often not the actual cause of the error.
🕰️ Old and Discontinued Stove Repair: Parts Sourced Across Suppliers
Capital Appliance Repair repairs stoves that other Ottawa companies turn away. The diagnostic service includes checking with multiple parts suppliers to locate components for discontinued models before concluding a repair is impossible: including 17-year-old Dacor ranges, 32-year-old electric stoves where control units were located and installed, and 15-year-old ranges where manufacturers confirmed parts were still available. When a part can’t be found, the technician gives a clear repair-or-replace recommendation.
🔧 Stove Installation in Ottawa
Capital Appliance Repair installs electric stoves and ranges across Ottawa alongside repair services. Installation covers the 240V electrical connection at the terminal block, leveling the unit, securing the anti-tip bracket, and a test of all burners and the oven element before the technician leaves. Induction range installation includes confirming the circuit amperage is adequate for the unit’s power requirements. Call (613) 454-1577 to confirm availability for your specific model and kitchen configuration.

What Happens After You Call Capital Appliance Repair for Stove Repair in Ottawa
From first call to a working stove, most Ottawa stove repairs follow the same four steps.
Book: Same Day or Next Day
Call (613) 454-1577 or book online. Our customer experience team schedules stove repair appointments 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. The technician confirms the appointment window and calls ahead with an ETA before arriving.
Diagnosis: Plain-Language Explanation
The technician identifies the specific component that failed and explains the problem clearly. For induction cooktops or older discontinued models, the diagnosis includes confirming whether the part can be sourced before quoting a repair. Most diagnoses take 15 to 30 minutes.
Upfront Quote: No Surprises
You receive the full cost (parts and labour) before any work begins. No work proceeds without your approval. If the repair doesn’t make sense for your stove’s age, the technician says so here. If you can source the part cheaper online, the “order your own part” policy applies.
Repair + Test + Tips
The repair is completed, all burners and the oven are tested before the technician leaves, and you receive guidance on what to watch for going forward. The limited warranty of up to 1 year on parts and labour takes effect immediately.
Is Repairing Your Electric Stove Worth It? How Capital Appliance Repair Advises Ottawa Homeowners
Capital Appliance Repair technicians give an honest repair-or-replace recommendation after every diagnosis. The general benchmark: if the repair is under 50% of a comparable new unit’s cost and the stove is under 10 years old, repair is almost always the better financial decision.
| Factor | Repair (Capital Appliance Repair) | Buy a New Stove |
|---|---|---|
| Typical cost | Most repairs: $100–$450 depending on fault and brand | New range: $800–$2,500+ installed, induction from $1,200 |
| Coverage | Limited warranty of up to 1 year on parts and labour | Manufacturer warranty: typically 1 year parts only, labour not included |
| Time without a stove | Same-visit when part is on the truck; 1–3 days when ordering | Delivery and installation: 5–10 business days minimum |
| Old or discontinued models | Capital Appliance Repair searches multiple suppliers before concluding a part is unavailable | Required when parts are genuinely unavailable |
| Induction cooktops | Control board, zone, and touch panel repairs available | Induction replacement typically $1,200–$3,000+ |
| Best when | Single component failure on a stove under 10 years old | Multiple simultaneous failures on a stove over 15 years old with limited parts availability |
Capital Appliance Repair has recommended that customers accept manufacturer buybacks rather than proceed with a high-cost repair when the buyback was the better outcome. The diagnosis is always honest about what the numbers look like before you decide.
What Ottawa Homeowners Say About Our Stove Repair
From transparent pricing, honest repair-or-replace guidance, same-day parts sourcing, and technicians who go beyond the stated fault, our reviews reflect the service Ottawa homeowners expect from Capital Appliance Repair across Google, HomeStars, Trustpilot, and other trusted review platforms.
Kenmore Elite Induction stove. Yuri was very professional, courteous, and friendly.. He was honest and straightforward, explaining the problem we were facing. I was previously aware that parts for an induction stove top would be expensive, but Yuri made sure I knew what I was benefiting from replacing the faulty part. He provided me with options and was very knowledgeable. I would definitely call CAR again should I need to, and will recommend anytime.
I was very pleased with the quality of service provided by Yuri. The difficulty with my stove was assessed, the part was ordered, and installed with efficiency. Yuri performed the tasks in a friendly, competent manner. Yuri even set the clock on the stove, a clock whose operations had been mystifying me. I would not hesitate to call Capital Appliance Repair for any of my appliance difficulties.
After quickly diagnosing two broken convection fans and an element, the technician explained how the breakdown occurred and how it could be repaired. After receiving the parts, the technician expertly replaced the fans and element, explaining what was going on. He is very knowledgeable and was a pleasure to deal with. The stove is back to normal. I highly recommend the company.
Stove control panel needed to be replaced. Had not used Capital Appliance Repair in the past but was extremely happy with their service. Arrived in the timeframe given, determined part needed to be ordered, came back late in the day to make the repair. Will be contacting Capital Appliance Repair if needed in the future and will recommend them to friends and family.
GE stove element replacement. We contacted Capital Appliance Repair to replace the main element on our 14-year-old GE Profile stove. The service was prompt and professional, and Oleg, who performed the work, was a pleasure to deal with. We will contact Capital Appliance Repair for any further appliance repair needs.
Contacted Capital Appliance Repair on Monday, and they scheduled a technician to arrive the next day. The technician (Victor) arrived a little before the scheduled time and went to work checking out the stove. He determined the probable source of the problem (thermostat/sensor) and ordered one. He felt it might take a couple days if one wasn't available in Ottawa. Capital Appliance contacted me later that day to say that Victor had located the part and was available to install it. I was free, and he arrived about 30 minutes later and installed the part. I am to get back to Capital Appliance if the problem continues because there is another possible solution. Victor took the time to answer any questions that I had about the problems with the stove and possible solutions. I was very pleased with the service and wouldn't hesitate to call them again for any problems.
Our electric range is 32 years old. After the recent ice storm hydro outage (April 2023), the oven didn't work but the burners did. We researched for a new range for a couple of weeks and decided instead to try to get our old one repaired because we don't want a glass top range just yet. Capital Appliance came through by identifying the dead control unit and found a replacement part. We waited a week for it to be located, ordered, and delivered, but Michael came back today and replaced the control unit. Thank you, Capital Appliance Repair. Well done. ps Following the power outage after Derecho tornados in 2022, our 32-year-old fridge/freezer wouldn't freeze, and Capital Repair fixed that for us as well. Certainly worth their reasonable call-out fee to see if they can repair instead of buying new.
I recently had my Samsung electric stove repaired by a technician named George, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. From start to finish, George was professional and knowledgeable, quickly diagnosing the issue and explaining the repair process in a way that was easy to understand. Not only did he fix the problem efficiently, but he also took the time to ensure everything was working perfectly before leaving. I truly appreciated his attention to detail and commitment to quality. Additionally, the customer service I received throughout the process was excellent. The scheduling was straightforward, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend both George and the service team for anyone in need of appliance repairs. They made a potentially stressful situation much easier!
Great company, you cannot go wrong. I had an issue with my LG stove, and Capital Appliance Repair came within 24 hours, diagnosed the problem, and came back today to re-install the part. Service was impeccable, friendly, economical, and fast. I will keep their number in my phone for any future issues. You cannot go wrong with this company.
One of the burners of my Samsung range didn't work. I called Capital Appliance Repair, and the technician came to check on the same day, identified the burner needed to be replaced, and provided me a quote for the part and labor. I felt the part was quite expensive, so I searched online and found the same part at about half the price. I discussed the part price with Capital Appliance Repair; they said, "You can order the part online yourself and call us when the part arrives, and the tech will come to repair it." So I ordered the part and called them when the part arrived. Within 3 months, they waived the initial inspection fee. Awesome service.
I highly recommend Capital Appliance Repair from my past experience with a problem we had with our stove oven and the stove electronic cooling fan. When I made the call, the reception noted my request for service and arranged for a technician to come over to investigate the problem and give us a quote for the repair service. Yuri (a technician) professionally investigated and quickly found the problems with the stove. Parts were ordered, and a follow-up appointment was made to replace the defective parts. Again, Yuri made the necessary repairs and all was done with care and professionalism. Thank you, Yuri.
Capital Appliance Repair replaced the glass on our electric cooktop for us. I wish the cooktop never broke in the first place, but if it had to break, I can’t think of a better repair experience than what Capital Appliance Repair provided us. They came in with a lower price than the competition, took care of ordering a specialized part, and did excellent, clean work. The technician even took the time to deeply clean some old grime that had accumulated around the cooktop as part of going the extra mile. Communication was smooth and excellent throughout the process. I HIGHLY recommend them.
Capital Appliance Repair has been our go-to repair service for the last four years, repairing multiple appliances (stove, dishwasher, dryer). Our LG electric range recently stopped working due to a failed motherboard. The repair tech attended our residence on 2024-07-31, and a new motherboard was ordered from Toronto. The same was installed on 2024-08-12. The service was outstanding as usual. The repair tech was both prompt and professional. I wholeheartedly recommend this service for all your appliance repair needs. John and Amanda.
Yuri helped us get a new control board installed in our induction cooktop. He said he would have it fixed within the week, and he was true to his word. Contrast this experience with another appliance repair competitor that strung us along for over a year, saying they couldn't get the part and then eventually ghosting us. Our stove is up and running just great now, and we have Yuri to thank for that. The service level he provided was very high. We will definitely call again if we ever need help!
When my 10-year-old Whirlpool stove started causing me grief, I called Capital Appliance Repair. My lucky day; they sent me Michael. Michael is a polite, well-spoken, superb electrician. He quickly identified my problem and explained clearly what needed to be done. He did a wonderful repair job and also indicated what I should watch for in future and what might next be needed sometime down the road. Thank you, Capital Appliance Repair, and thank you, Michael, for your excellent work.
I am thankful to have found Sergiy and the work that he’s done for us. Sergiy is honest, trustworthy and highly skilled. Since I had a boil over, I’ve only had half of my stove working. Sergiy diagnosed the problem and reviewed my options with me. Sergiy was transparent (about the cost of labour/parts, expected delivery, etc.) and I am glad that I trusted his advice. I will call Sergiy back if I have any other problems and will recommend Sergiy to my family and friends.
Had a great, fast, efficient, and courteous experience with Capital Appliance Repair Service. Pretty simple. I called. They showed up within hours, and the next day my stove was back up and running. Our technician (Ilya) made himself available during Easter weekend. He was very understanding and made the process seamless! Should I have any issues with other appliances (knock on wood; I don't), I will FOR SURE call/recommend Capital Appliance Repair!
Excellent same day service. It was same day because I could take a cancellation, but otherwise it would’ve been very quick. They agreed to deal with a 17-year-old. Dacor stove, which the company I had been using for appliance repairs would not touch. Within two hours, it was fixed. Suitable information was provided about availability of parts in the future. Service was friendly and very efficient. This will now be my new appliance repair company.
George from Capital Appliance Repair was fantastic! He did an excellent job fixing my stovetop — quick, efficient, and thorough. He was courteous, professional, and easy to work with from start to finish. I really appreciated his clear communication and attention to detail. I would highly recommend George and Capital Appliance Repair to anyone in need of appliance repairs. Thanks again for the great service!
Yuri was outstanding and an asset to Capital Appliance! He was professional and got my stove working! Price is reasonable and they are all professional! My stove is working and it is 15 years old and they were still able to get the part! Outstanding company! Fast is an understatement as I called Monday and Yuri was here Monday afternoon - part ordered and installed by Wednesday afternoon!
Yuri arrived on time after calling to confirm the appointment. He diagnosed the problem with the stove and had the necessary parts with him to repair it. He was very knowledgeable. He was also a pleasure to deal with. We would not hesitate to use Capital Appliance Repair in the future if something should break down. And I will use him again in the future.
We have used Capital Appliance Repair 3 times this year and have been so happy to have Yuri's help. He fixed a burner on our stove, came back a month later under a guarantee to recheck it as it was still acting up, but has been great since. We just had him back for our washing machine because it wasn't draining. Great, kind, trustworthy, honest, the best!
The technician arrived at 3:00. He knew exactly what was needed and how to do it. By 3:20 he had repaired my stove for a very reasonable fee. This is the fourth time I have used Capital Appliance Repair for my aging appliances. They have not failed me. They are prompt, respectful, skilled, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them.
I was impressed with the amount of work the technician put in trying to find a replacement thermostat for our very old stove. He was very patient with us as we peppered him with questions too. But, alas, in the end there was nothing available for our feeble, demented oven. But, at least we were charged a ridiculously low fee.
Yuri was the gentleman who came by and saved the day! He was very pleasant and explained everything he was doing so I could understand the process. He was quick, neat, and very efficient. He knew his job, that’s for sure! Thank you, Yuri. You made my day and saved me from buying a new stove. 😀 Marlene Colbourne from Ottawa
I was very pleased with the service I got from Capital Appliance Repair. Fast, courteous, and highly professional. They came right away, correctly diagnosed the problem with my stove and dishwasher, and came up with a cost-effective solution. If you need any small appliance work, call them. You won't regret it.
I was very happy with the service I received in repairing my stove. They were prompt to reply to my request for servicing, as well as arranging the appointment so that the problem was quickly fixed. He was very knowledgeable and informative about what had to be done. I would recommend them to my friends.
The technician determined the issue with my Kitchen Aid stove. As it is quite expensive, we have decided not to go forward with repairs. Due to all the issues I've had with this stove, Kitchen Aid is buying back the stove and refunding my money. Thank you for your service. Betty Clarke
Fast, polite, and efficient service. The stove had an unusual electrical issue, and the technician checked everything before getting it working again. No unnecessary repairs, just an honest service call. I will definitely recommend Capital Appliance Repair and their technician Artur.
The technician arrived at our home earlier than expected, which was a pleasant surprise. He quickly diagnosed the issue with our stovetop and provided an estimate for the cost of repairs and potential timelines due to parts availability. The cost of the service call was very reasonable.
Capital Appliance Repair provided excellent service. Quick, next-day response for my Whirlpool range problem. Repair technician was on time, courteous, thorough in diagnostics, and even had the required part readily available. Competitive pricing. No hidden costs. Highly recommend.
Lucas did an amazing job repairing our stove! He was punctual, professional, and super knowledgeable. He fixed the problem quickly and made sure everything was working perfectly before he left. Great service at a fair price. Highly recommend Lucas for any appliance repairs!
Called on a Monday morning for a stove issue. Yuri came later that afternoon and had replaced the burned out element a few days later. The scheduling with the main office was easy and Yuri was polite and professional. Happy to recommend these guys to anyone else in Ottawa.
Great experience with having an older model stovetop switch replaced. They were able to find a replacement switch instead of replacing the whole harness control system. Took 2 days: one for the check/inspection, and the next they got the switch in to be replaced.
George and Yuri came today to replace the glass top on our stove and also to clean the inside of the glass in the oven door. They were pleasant, knowledgeable, and so competent. We will definitely call this firm again for any appliance repairs.
Jurij was very helpful - he explained everything very clearly, and to help as fast as possible, he contacted me as soon as he had the part I needed for my stove and came right away to install it on a Saturday! I highly recommend him.
The technician came to my home on time. Spent over 1 hour to check my broken induction stove all over. Provided a quote on site. Very professional and knowledgeable. Will call them first if something is broken in the future.
Contacted the company to repair a broken Whirlpool cooktop stove in Orleans, Ont. The company was fair and honoured their appointments. Service was done quickly, and my tenant was very satisfied. Good job!
Friendly and effective. George and his assistant from Capital Appliance Repair fixed our induction stove with great care. It now works like it is brand new. Thanks to Capital Appliance. Thanks to George!

Stove Repair Ottawa: Common Questions Answered
Most electric stove repairs in Ottawa fall between $100 and $450 depending on the component that failed and the brand. Simple repairs like an element replacement or infinite switch are at the low end. Control board replacements, induction cooktop repairs, or glass cooktop replacements on premium brands run higher. Capital Appliance Repair provides the full cost (parts and labour) after the diagnosis and before any work begins. If the repair isn’t worth it for your unit’s age, the technician says so at the quote stage. There are no hidden fees and no work starts without your approval.
If the repair costs less than 50% of a comparable new unit and the stove is under 10 years old, repair is almost always the better financial decision. A new electric range in Ottawa costs $800 to $2,500 or more installed. Most stove repairs run $100 to $450. For induction cooktops, where new units start at $1,200 and go well above $2,000, the threshold for repair to make sense is even wider. Capital Appliance Repair technicians give an honest recommendation after every diagnosis. When a repair doesn’t make sense, they say so: including recommending manufacturer buybacks when that was the better outcome for the customer.
A stove burner that doesn’t heat has a fault in one of three places: the element itself (which can fail internally without a visible break), the infinite switch that controls heat level for that burner, or the receptacle and terminal connection behind the burner. A burner that heats on some settings but not others suggests an infinite switch fault. A burner with no heat at all points to a failed element or a burned receptacle. Capital Appliance Repair technicians test element resistance with a meter before ordering a replacement, since visual inspection alone doesn’t always confirm a failed element.
Induction cooktop failures follow different patterns than conventional electric stoves. A single zone that stops working while others remain functional usually has a failed IGBT transistor for that zone. A full cooktop failure with error codes points to the main control board. An unresponsive touch panel indicates a failed touchpad membrane. Capital Appliance Repair repairs all three fault types across LG, Samsung, GE Profile, Kenmore Elite, and other induction brands. This includes sourcing control boards and IGBT components that are specific to induction cooktops and not stocked by most Ottawa repair companies.
An oven that runs 25 to 50 degrees below the set temperature, or heats unevenly, has a fault in the bake element, the temperature sensor, or the control board. The temperature sensor is a small probe inside the oven cavity that reports temperature to the control board. When it drifts out of calibration, the oven runs off target without any visible sign of failure. Capital Appliance Repair technicians test the sensor resistance before recommending a control board replacement, since the sensor is significantly cheaper and is the more likely cause of temperature faults on most ranges.
Capital Appliance Repair offers same-day stove repair appointments across Ottawa when technician schedules allow, and next-day appointments in most cases. Service runs 7 days a week including weekends and holidays. For same-day bookings, calling (613) 454-1577 directly gives you the fastest access to available slots. The technician confirms the appointment window and calls ahead with an ETA before arriving, so you’re not waiting in an open-ended time block.
Capital Appliance Repair backs most stove repairs with a limited warranty of up to 1 year covering both parts and labour. If the same problem returns within the warranty period, the follow-up is covered at no additional charge. The warranty applies to the specific repair performed, not to separate or unrelated issues that develop independently. Most Ottawa appliance repair companies offer 30 to 90 days on parts only.
A burner that overheats on low settings or can’t be reduced below a high heat level has a failed infinite switch. The infinite switch is the component that cycles power on and off to regulate heat level for each burner. When it fails, it loses the ability to reduce current, and the burner either maxes out or holds unpredictable temperatures regardless of the dial position. Infinite switch replacement is one of the more straightforward stove repairs. Capital Appliance Repair technicians stock infinite switches for the most common stove brands and complete most of these repairs on the first visit.
Yes. Capital Appliance Repair replaces cracked and shattered ceramic and induction glass cooktop surfaces across Ottawa. The technician orders the replacement glass panel specific to your stove model, disassembles the cooktop frame, removes the old glass, installs the new surface, and cleans the cooktop area before completing the job.
An electric stove with no response when controls are activated has a fault in the power supply chain or internal wiring. The terminal block at the back of the stove (where the house wiring connects to the appliance) is the most common failure point. Terminal blocks can arc and burn, cutting power to the stove even when the circuit breaker appears normal. A burned terminal block is also a fire risk and should not be left in place. Capital Appliance Repair technicians inspect the terminal block on every no-power diagnosis before moving to the control board or internal wiring as a potential cause.
Yes. Capital Appliance Repair installs electric stoves and ranges across Ottawa.
