Who We Are

Capital Appliance Repair has been servicing dishwashers across Ottawa for over 15 years. TSSA-certified technicians carry common replacement parts on every service vehicle, provide upfront pricing after diagnosis and before any work begins, and back repairs with a limited warranty of up to 1 year on both parts and labour. Same-day and next-day appointments are available 7 days a week across Ottawa, Kanata, Nepean, Barrhaven, Orleans, and Stittsville.
Our approach to every dishwasher repair is simple: diagnose the problem accurately, provide an honest quote, and recommend replacement instead of repair when it’s the better financial decision.
"Our technicians diagnose before quoting, quote before working, and will tell you honestly when a repair doesn't make financial sense for your unit."
Why Ottawa Homeowners Call Capital Appliance Repair for Dishwasher Repair
Capital Appliance Repair has been fixing Ottawa dishwashers for over 15 years. Every fault pattern on this page is a known diagnosis, not something a technician is working out at your kitchen counter. Here is what makes the service worth choosing.
✓ Honest About When Not to Repair
When a dishwasher isn’t worth fixing, our technicians say so before any work starts. That assessment (repair or replace) is part of every diagnostic visit, with no obligation and no charge beyond the diagnostic fee if you decide not to proceed.
🔧 Parts on the Truck for Most Common Issues
Common dishwasher parts are stocked on every service vehicle. When the part is already on the truck, the repair is completed the same visit. When a part needs to be ordered, technicians will pick it up same-day when possible to avoid a second trip.
⚡ Same-Day and Next-Day Appointments
We always book same-day appointments when technician schedules allow, and next-day appointments in most cases across Ottawa 7 days a week, including weekends.
💬 Upfront Pricing Before Any Work Starts
After diagnosing the problem, the technician gives the full cost (parts and labour) before picking up a tool. Straightforward pricing, no upselling. You decide whether to proceed.
🛡 Limited Warranty: Up to 1 Year on Parts and Labour
Capital Appliance Repair backs most dishwasher repairs with a limited warranty of up to 1 year covering both parts and labour. If the same problem returns within the warranty period, the follow-up is handled at no additional cost. Most Ottawa appliance repair companies offer 30 to 90 days on parts only.
💻 Book Online and Save $25 on Any Repair
Book your service call at capitalappliancerepair.ca and $25 is automatically deducted from your repair. No code required. The discount applies when you schedule through the website.
🌐 French-Speaking Technicians Available
French-speaking technicians are available on request across all Ottawa service areas. Scheduling and pricing conversations are handled in both official languages.
🔍 Clear, Upfront Repair Quotes
After diagnosing the problem, our technician explains what failed, what parts are needed, and provides a complete repair quote before any work begins. The quote includes both parts and labour, so you know exactly what to expect before deciding whether to proceed.
📱 Arrival Time Confirmation Before Every Visit
The technician calls or texts ahead with an estimated arrival time before every service call. You are not left waiting in a vague four-hour window: you know when to expect the technician, and the booking confirmation is sent by email.
Why Honest Diagnosis Matters for Dishwasher Repair
Capital Appliance Repair technicians won’t recommend a repair if replacing the appliance is the more practical and cost-effective option. They have also discovered that the actual fault was in a home’s electrical panel rather than the dishwasher, and identified problems that cost a fraction of what customers expected. The diagnostic fee covers an honest assessment, whether the answer is a $60 filter clean or a recommendation to buy a new unit.

Every Dishwasher Problem We Fix in Ottawa
Capital Appliance Repair handles the full range of dishwasher faults, from clogged filters and failed drain pumps to control board issues and door latch replacements. Below is what each repair category involves and how our technicians approaches the diagnosis.
💧 Dishwasher Not Draining: Standing Water After the Cycle
Standing water after a completed cycle is one of the most frequent dishwasher calls in Ottawa. The drain pump, drain hose, filter assembly, and garbage disposal connection are all possible causes, not equally expensive. A clogged filter is a ten-minute cleaning job. A failed drain pump motor requires a part and labour. Our technicians distinguish between these before recommending anything, because replacing a pump when the filter is blocked wastes money.
🌊 Dishwasher Leaking Water from the Door or Underneath
Dishwasher leaks have distinct sources: a worn door seal, a cracked inlet hose, a failed pump seal, a cracked tub, or an overfilling float switch. A door seal leak shows up in front of the machine. An inlet hose or pump seal leak shows up underneath. Our technicians identify the specific source before recommending a repair, because door seal replacement and pump seal replacement are very different jobs.
🍽️ Dishes Not Coming Out Clean After a Full Cycle
Food residue or film after a completed cycle points to one of four faults: clogged or broken spray arms that can’t distribute water evenly, a failed circulation pump with insufficient pressure, a blocked filter restricting flow, or a heating element not reaching the temperature needed to cut through grease. Our technicians check spray arm nozzles, test the circulation pump, inspect the filter, and verify the heating element before diagnosing the cause.
🔌 Dishwasher Won't Start or Has No Power
No response at the start button has several possible causes: a failed door latch, a blown thermal fuse, a faulty control board, a tripped circuit breaker, or a wiring fault, including faults in the home’s electrical panel rather than the dishwasher itself. Our technicians test the latch, thermal fuse, and power delivery before diagnosing the control board as failed, since board replacements are expensive and often unnecessary.
⏸️ Dishwasher Stopping Mid-Cycle
A dishwasher that starts normally but stops partway through a cycle is responding to a fault condition: a drainage problem triggering the float switch, a door latch intermittently losing contact, a thermal cutout activating due to motor overheating, or a sensor fault generating an error code. Our technicians identify whether the mid-cycle stop is a sensor, latch, or drainage fault before recommending the repair path. Many mid-cycle faults are resolved in a single visit under 30 minutes.
💨 Dishes Not Drying Properly
Dishes left wet at cycle end usually point to a failed heating element, a vent not opening to release steam, a rinse aid dispenser not dispensing, or a high-temp setting that was turned off. Bosch dishwashers use a condensation drying system rather than a heating element, so wet dishes on a Bosch require a different diagnostic path than on a Whirlpool or GE. Our technicians adjust the diagnosis for each brand’s drying system.
🔊 Loud Grinding, Buzzing, or Rattling Noises
Dishwasher noise points to specific components. Grinding during the wash cycle typically means a damaged wash impeller or an object caught in the pump housing. Buzzing or humming points to a struggling motor bearing or a failing drain pump. A rattle is usually a loose wash arm, a shifted dish basket, or an item that fell onto the pump cover. Our technicians isolate the noise source before recommending any part replacement.
🚪 Door Latch and Door Won't Close or Lock
A dishwasher door that won’t latch properly is a safety and function issue: most dishwashers won’t start if the door switch isn’t fully engaged. The latch assembly and the door strike can both wear or break, and the door springs can lose tension so the door falls open rather than holding its position. Door latch and hinge components are commonly stocked on the service vehicle, making these repairs candidates for a same-visit fix.
🧼 Soap Dispenser Not Opening During the Cycle
If the detergent compartment stays closed through the wash cycle, dishes won’t come out clean regardless of water pressure or temperature. The dispenser door is spring-loaded and triggered by a wax motor or solenoid: when either fails, the door stays shut. A second common cause is dishes loaded in front of the dispenser, blocking it from opening. Our technicians check the mechanical cause before recommending a dispenser replacement.
⚡ Error Codes on Bosch, Samsung, LG, and GE Dishwashers
Bosch, Samsung, LG, and GE dishwashers display error codes when a sensor or component reports a fault. Bosch E24 typically indicates a drain fault. Samsung LC indicates a water leak at the floor sensor. LG AE means the anti-flood device has activated. Our technicians interpret each code against manufacturer service documentation: a Bosch E24 can be a blocked filter, a kinked hose, or a failed pump, and the diagnosis determines which before any part gets ordered.
🔄 Circulation Pump and Motor Replacement
The circulation pump pressurizes water through the spray arms throughout the wash cycle. When the pump motor fails, the dishwasher fills and runs its cycle but no water reaches the spray arms and dishes come out dirty. Circulation pump replacement is one of the more involved dishwasher repairs. Our technicians assess whether the repair cost versus the appliance’s age and replacement cost makes it the right call, and present options before any work begins.
🔧 Dishwasher Installation in Ottawa
Capital Appliance Repair installs dishwashers for Ottawa homeowners in addition to repair work. Installation includes connecting the water supply line, the drain line to the sink cabinet, the power supply, and confirming the unit is level and sealed before the first test cycle. We handle installation on most residential dishwasher models across all major brands.

What Happens After You Call Capital Appliance Repair for Dishwasher Repair in Ottawa
Most dishwasher repairs follow four steps. Here is what to expect from the first call through to the repair complete and tested.
Book Your Appointment: Same Day or Next Day
Call (613) 454-1577 or book online. Our customer experience team schedules 7 days a week, including weekends. Same-day appointments are available when technician schedules allow. You get a confirmed time window, not a vague all-day slot.
Diagnosis Before Any Quote
The technician inspects the dishwasher and identifies the specific component that failed. Most diagnoses take 10 to 30 minutes depending on the fault type. The technician explains the problem in plain terms before discussing repair options.
Upfront Quote: Including the Honest Recommendation
You receive the full repair cost, parts and labour, before any work starts. If the repair doesn’t make financial sense for your unit’s age and condition, the technician says so. You decide whether to proceed, with no obligation and no pressure.
Repair Completed, Backed by Limited Warranty Up to 1 Year
Because we stock common dishwasher parts on the service vehicle, most repairs are completed the same visit. The limited warranty of up to 1 year on parts and labour takes effect on completion. If the same problem returns within the warranty period, Capital Appliance Repair covers the follow-up.
Is Repairing Your Dishwasher Worth It? The Honest Answer
Capital Appliance Repair technicians answer this question after every diagnosis, not before. The benchmark they use: if the repair is under 50% of replacement cost and the unit is under 10 years old, repair is almost always the better financial call. Here’s how the comparison breaks down in Ottawa.
| Factor | Repair (Capital Appliance Repair) | Buy a New Dishwasher |
|---|---|---|
| Typical cost | Most repairs: $120–$380 depending on part and brand | New dishwasher: $600–$1,800+ installed |
| Time to resolution | Same-day or next-day repair for most issues | 2–7 business days for delivery, plus installation time |
| Parts warranty | Limited warranty of up to 1 year on parts and labour | Manufacturer warranty, usually 1 year parts only |
| Diagnostic transparency | Quote after diagnosis, honest about replacement when repair isn’t worth it | No equivalent: you’re committed to the purchase price |
| Best when | Unit is under 10 years old, repair under $400 | Unit is 12+ years old with multiple failed components simultaneously |
| Environmental | Keeps a functional appliance out of landfill | Old unit disposal required |
Capital Appliance Repair technicians will tell you when replacement makes more sense than repair. That assessment comes after the diagnosis, before any work starts, and costs nothing beyond the diagnostic fee.
Trusted by Ottawa Homeowners: Customer Reviews
Across Google, Homestars, Trustpilot, and more: technicians who arrive on time, diagnose accurately, price honestly, and go beyond the scope of what was asked.
Bosch dishwasher returned to operation. The dishwasher stopped working just after the pandemic started. It was out of commission for 17 months. This was only scheduled as a diagnostic call, but the technician had it working again in ten minutes and corrected a couple of other problems left by previous technicians: a badly routed drainage hose and a drip in the shutoff valve on the water supply line. Total time was about 20 minutes. He wasted no time and cleaned up when he was done. Very happy with this repair!
Dishwasher repair and service. Victor was prompt and on time. He was very professional and listened to our complaint in an attempt to diagnose the issue. It was determined that the leak was a result of a worn door seal and sprayer arm (error code AE). Parts are on order, and a follow-up service will be required. A 25% discount was applied as a repeat customer. I highly recommend Capital Appliance Repair. John and Amanda Graziano.
Thank you to George for repairing my Samsung dishwasher this week. I was able to schedule an appointment with a very quick turnaround time. George arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the problem, and was able to fix it right away and, I might add, at a reasonable cost. If you’re looking for fast, efficient, and affordable appliance repair, I highly recommend George and Capital Appliance Repair.
My dishwasher wasn't draining properly, so I contacted Capital Appliance Repair after reading all their positive online reviews. They did not disappoint. They scheduled an appointment for the next day, arrived on time, quickly identified the problem, and fixed it for a fair price. I won't hesitate to contact them again if I need future appliance repairs. Highly recommend.
Dishwasher Door Springs. First-class service. When I called, the very pleasant receptionist was able to book me in a couple of days. The repairman was masked and very courteous. He had the parts to complete the repair, and our door was working perfectly. Thanks so much, Capital Appliance. I will definitely recommend to my friends.
We have an LG dishwasher that mysteriously began intermittent problems after a few years, and it eventually stopped working. I bought it from Lowes in Stittsville, but found that having moved to a small hobby farm in Kinburn, it seems that suddenly nobody was available to come have a look...in fact one repair shop in Ottawa made an appointment then cancelled once they google mapped our place, telling us it was too far out! (Kinburn is still part of City of Ottawa btw, and about 20 mins easy drive from Stittsville ). Thank goodness for Capital Appliance Repair! George came out to see us and immediately determined the problem...mice had chewed through some wires...and he ordered the parts needed right when he was onsite and provided an estimate for the repair costs. On the follow-up visit, he came prepared, on time, and did a magnificent job finishing the repair, being careful to balance the dishwasher and clean up afterwards. He was also hilarious, which is frankly a welcome thing...:). Great guy, great repair experience! Highly recommended.
When the handle on our dishwasher broke, I first reached out to two other appliance repair companies—neither answered the phone or returned my emails. What a relief to discover Capital Appliance Repair. They picked up on the first ring, took my details, booked an appointment, explained the payment options, and even followed up with an email summarizing everything. The technician arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the issue, and clearly explained the repair options, costs, and timeline. Since the part had to be ordered, he couldn’t do the repair that day, but I really appreciated the honest assessment, straightforward pricing, and the fact that there was no upselling of unnecessary extras. Everything was easy to understand—no jargon, just transparency. As soon as the part arrived, they scheduled the repair within 24 hours, and my dishwasher was as good as new. The technician was friendly, professional, and careful about maintaining a tidy workspace. I’ll absolutely call them again if I need appliance repairs—highly recommended!
Our dishwasher wasn't working, and Capital Appliance Repair sent George to repair our appliance. He arrived within the designated timeframe and quickly determined that we had a defective water pump. So problem solved. However, in the process of examining the dishwasher, it was apparent that the water cable was leaking, which was an unknown issue—so George fixed that problem. Then George stabilized our dishwasher, which had been a longstanding problem from the initial installation by another firm, which pleased both my wife and I. Finally, he addressed another kitchen issue during his visit to our home. George is quick but thorough and gets the job done. We started out with one definite problem and ended up fixing 4 issues to our satisfaction. That is a great service call. P.S. The dishwasher now works just fine.
I phoned for repairs to my dishwasher. I received a quick and prompt appointment. The service person who visited the house, Evgeny, was polite, knew his work, and highly professional. I am very satisfied with the service provided and recommend their service. Given my good experience, when I next had a problem with my washing machine, I called them again in November 2017. Again, I was provided a quick appointment within 24 hours. The person who visited, not Evgeny, but Pavlo this time, again knew what he was doing: courteous, professional, and fixed the problem in no time. Given the comments I got from both repair people, the company could offer an additional service of guiding people prior to a major appliance purchase, perhaps for fifty dollars. In the meanwhile, I am very satisfied with the service received.
Vasilyi (our tech) arrived when we were told he would, assessed the situation, and listened to my description and saw the pictures. He confirmed the seal that was problematic. Ordered one and gave me a workaround (a pan under the leak area), which allowed us to use the dishwasher in the meanwhile. He also gave us several tips about how to keep the dishwasher cleaner and how to keep the little nozzles from being clogged. Great service, second time I've used them (and I think Vasilyi may have been here before on another issue (pump replacement for the dishwasher)). Saved me having to buy a new dishwasher, so the service visit is worth it. Vasilyi was also very polite and answered all questions. Would have him back without a doubt if I need any appliance repair.
Of course our dishwasher decides to stop on Friday night of a long weekend! After fiddling with buttons and power for an hour, I started looking for a repair service answering calls early on a Saturday morning. The receptionist who took my call around 9:30 told me she could schedule a service call between 11 and 1. I was happy, but not optimistic, as I thought they could diagnose the issue, but not get replacement parts till Tuesday after the long weekend, so I hand washed and dried all the dishes. In hindsight, I should have had more faith. Serviceman worked about an hour, actually had the replacement switch he needed, and fixed things quicker than I thought possible. Amazing. Effective. Efficient, and professional. Kudos and thank-you.
Capital Appliance Repair responded promptly to an online request, confirming a next-day appointment. Tech arrived on time, was efficient, professional, and polite: the circulating pump had failed. Repair was far more economical than replacement of a 4-year-old built-in dishwasher. Delivery of an assembly by a supplier in the GTA took longer than anticipated, a delay beyond the control of Capital Appliance. Follow-up when the replacement assembly arrived was prompt. An appointment was booked and the repair was completed by the same tech, who took care to verify proper operation, check for leaks, and clean up the work site.
Good honest service. During COVID, our technician arrived with a mask on (thank you) and was personable but didn't waste time getting to business. He inspected our dishwasher and freezer and explained the issues, told us why he knew what the issue was (specific parts that shouldn't make specific noises, etc.), and recommended appropriate actions. In one case our dishwasher parts could take weeks or months to arrive, so he recommended we buy another dishwasher. Happy that he didn't try to make money for the company despite leaving us without a dishwasher indefinitely. I trust this company and will call on them again.
I was a bit concerned when the technician told me he had to order parts. Though he said they should arrive within a week, I know how these things can go, so I was expecting it to take even longer than that. Happily, they arrived in two days and he was back to finish the job much earlier than I expected. He did the repair quickly and professionally and took the time to offer me a couple of useful tips to help maintain my dishwasher and keep it running longer as well. So I'm very satisfied with the service and wouldn't hesitate to call Capital Appliance Repair if any other issues arise.
Contacted Capital Appliance Repair to fix my KitchenAid oven and Bosch dishwasher. My request was replied to quickly on the weekend and booked in for the Monday. George diagnosed the problems immediately and ordered the parts from my kitchen before he left. The buttons for my dishwasher were no longer available, and they did an exhaustive search for them. George was able to reinstall the previous buttons, and everything is working well on both appliances. Capital Appliance Repair staff is efficient, reliable, knowledgeable, and friendly. I will definitely call them for my next project.
Our dishwasher was not turning on properly, and we called Capital Appliance Repair. Technician Vitaly came and diagnosed that it needed a new pump. He professionally gave us options, and we chose to put in a new pump since this dishwasher has been amazing in all the years that we've been using it! Since it's an older model, we had to wait for the pump to be sent from Calgary, but he explained that and we were fine with it. The pump came after 10 days or so. Vitaly is an excellent technician, and we would not hesitate to use the company again in the future!
After a miserable experience with another repair company, I called Capital and was immediately impressed by their responsiveness. We needed them to install a part for our dishwasher. They gave us a price, showed up on time, did a great job, and were very pleasant to deal with. I got the impression the tech knew what he was doing and had experience working with appliances, unlike the other company's techs who had to call their own tech support as well as the dishwasher maker's tech support. I would highly recommend Capital Appliance Repair.
I had a wonderful experience with Capital Appliance Repair and one of their technicians, Oleg! He was extremely professional and kind. He fixed our dishwasher within a very reasonable timeframe and took the time to explain what was wrong with it and how we could avoid issues in the future. He was also caring enough to answer questions I had about my other appliances, and he was more than happy to give his professional advice. I will 1000% use Capital Appliance Repair services again! Thank you, Oleg, for all your hard work!
Called Capital Appliance to check out our Bosch dishwasher. Service tech came on time, had it fixed in < 30 mins. It was stuck in between cycles, which he was able to reset. He said that the control board and level housing could/should be replaced, but the cost of this isn't worth doing and that I should look for a new one. As it's a week before Christmas, I'm glad it's fixed for now and grateful to know we need a new d/w. I was just charged for the service call. Outstanding service and so happy I called Capital Appliance.
Our dishwasher was leaking. Called to have a technician assess it. Vitaly was great. He could not be 100% sure of the cause but recommended replacing a part that was the very likely source. He did not pressure us and let us think it over and decide whether to repair or replace. We called later that day and the part was immediately ordered, and Vitaly just returned to install it. So far, no issues and there is a warranty should there be any problems. Definitely recommend for an honest, pressure-free experience!
We had a dishwasher emergency in the middle of the pandemic... water and panic everywhere... but the Capital Appliance technician had everything under control and sorted out within minutes. He clearly identified what the problem was, identified several reasonable options, and provided his own take on solution preferences (none of which directly benefited the tech nor his company). The fix was competitively priced, quick, and entirely satisfactory. All in all, an admirable and most satisfactory experience.
Had an E25 error on my decade-old Bosch dishwasher. I tried the basic fixes myself via Internet videos, but to no avail. Yuri came on a Monday, diagnosed the issue, picked up the part himself to save me some time waiting, and was back to successfully repair the washer early Thursday afternoon. Yuri was friendly, polite, and respectful. He was clear about the labour charges before he began his diagnosis and transparent about the cost of the pump. I would recommend Yuri from Capital Appliance Repair.
The technicians were polite and professional. They diagnosed my dishwasher problem quickly and accurately, and gave me clear options. They completed the repairs with care and paid attention to the small things, like putting a towel down to not get water on the floor, or using the floor mat to not damage the hardwood when taking out the dishwasher. They also took the time to explain the issue in detail, and answered all of my questions patiently. My dishwasher is working perfectly now, thank you!
I was offered a same-day appointment, but next day worked better for me. Ilya arrived 1 hour into the 2 1/2 hour window I was given. He was friendly and knowledgeable. Though he wasn't able to fix my dishwasher, he did everything he could, and I was confident with his assessment that the pump was gone and his recommendation that for the model we owned, it would be very expensive/not worth repairing. I would absolutely recommend Capital Appliance Repair, and if I need them, I will ask for Ilya!
The soap dispenser in our Bosch dishwasher did not open properly. Contacted Capital Appliance Repair. Promptly, their repairman, George, showed up at our door. Courteous, he quickly identified the problem and ordered the necessary part. A week later, George came back to install the part. He was quick, informative. Many thanks to George, we now have a fully functional dishwasher, and we know a little bit more of how to take care of it. Great job!
Capital Appliance are my go-to appliance repair people in Ottawa. They are responsive (you can get a human the first time you call), will schedule your appointment for you ASAP, their prices are reasonable, and they will fix the problem and make a recommendation to replace or repair the machine. Kobi serviced our dishwasher this week, and he was great. Good quality work, price, and professionalism. You can't ask for more. I would recommend this company for your appliance service.
I needed a new dishwasher installed and not wanting to mess it up by doing it myself, I called a professional. George was the professional Capital Appliance sent out for the install. He was friendly and obviously knew what he was doing. George gave me pointers on how to maintain my new product to save me more expense in the future. It took one business day for Capital Appliance to send someone out. I'll be calling them again if the need arises!
Immediately after opening my dishwasher, the service technician was able to isolate the issue. Within a week, they had ordered the missing part and installed it. After installation, the service technician walked me through the install and assured me everything was back in working order, backed by a 90 day warranty. Split payment also made this a pleasant experience, paying half on the first visit and paying the remaining balance after the install was complete.
These guys are excellent! From the initial phone call, they were courteous and booked me in right away. The gentleman George who came to do the dishwasher service call was punctual, efficient, and knowledgeable. Within 30 mins, he was able to take apart the dishwasher, found the problem, and put it all back to make sure everything was good before leaving. I highly recommend these guys and will be using them from now on. George, you are a magician!!
Service provided by Yuri was thorough and professional. He is very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose the issue within 2 minutes of hearing the dishwasher. He also spent additional time making sure there were no other issues by putting the dishwasher through its paces, and was honest enough to tell us that if the issue returned, we really should get a new dishwasher instead of wasting money on additional repairs.
Ilya showed up right on time - extremely knowledgeable and had the door hinges on my KitchenAid dishwasher replaced in a flash. Was very careful with the unit and tested it after putting everything back. Would use the company again and thoroughly recommend their service. Part of the reason for choosing them was how promptly they got back to me with quotes, etc. Most of the other outfits took a long time to contact me.
I am very impressed with the service provided by Kobi, the technician who repaired my dishwasher. He was very knowledgeable, prompt and honest. He could easily have sold me a part I didn't need, and instead took the time to find the problem and fix it. Also Capital Appliance responded to my call very quickly, sending their technician the next day after I called. I would definitely recommend this service!
Amazing service. The rep came to my home. Based on my description of the problem, he let me know an idea of how much things would cost based on what he may find. He quickly assessed the problem with my dishwasher and fixed it. He checked to make sure everything was cleaned up, and before leaving, he gave me tips on how to keep my machine working effectively. I would definitely use their service again.
The technician Iurii was on time, extremely polite, and very capable! He took the time to explain what was wrong with my dishwasher and provided me with my options. The part required would have been special order, and he gave me an estimate as to how long it would take to arrive. He also provided me an extra minute to discuss how to clean the glass in my oven. I would HIGHLY recommend Iurii!!
I booked an appointment for my dishwasher and Vitaly showed up on time within the window provided by the store. Unfortunately the dishwasher case was broken and a repair wasn’t recommended in my case. I appreciated Vitaly’s upfront honesty and that he showed me why this was his recommendation by showing me the issue in my dishwasher. Would absolutely recommend Capital Appliance Repair.
Had an issue with my dishwasher and called for an appointment. The repair person, George, was early, professional, and did an excellent job. He fixed the issue and explained how I can prevent it from happening again. He was kind, polite and most of all an excellent communicator on what work was being done and how he was fixing it. Highly recommend Capital Appliance Repair. Give them a shot.
Sergei did an outstanding job disconnecting our old dishwasher and installing our new dishwasher! After two attempts by Jiffy plumbing contractors telling us that they couldn’t do the job, I contacted Capital Appliance and Sergei was here the next day to get the job done. Very professional, knowledgeable, and I would highly recommend this company. Thanks again, Sergei—amazing job!
Had a problem with my dishwasher. Appointment was scheduled the same day. Part needed to be replaced. Part arrived quickly and installation of the part was scheduled the next day. Repairman arrived on time and was very personable and knowledgeable. Office staff were very pleasant and passed on a message to the repairman. Would definitely recommend this company for appliance repair!
Your business is very lucky to have employees that are so personable and straightforward as he was assessing what may be causing the loss of power to our dishwasher. He was very thorough, which gave us great confidence when he found the problem was not the dishwasher but elsewhere in the kitchen, which requires an electrician. It was a pleasure to have met this gentleman.
The technician came the day I called. He was very nice and tried to fix the problem... our Miele dishwasher was not working. He had to order a part, which was expensive, but we agreed it was worth fixing. When the part came in, he came the next day and all is good. I would use this company again. Only problem is they do not stock parts, so we had to wait two weeks.

Dishwasher Repair Ottawa: Common Questions Answered
Most dishwasher repairs in Ottawa fall between $120 and $380 depending on the component that failed and the brand of the unit. Simple fixes like a blocked filter or a clogged drain hose are at the lower end. Circulation pump replacement or control board repair on a high-end Bosch or Miele will run higher. Capital Appliance Repair provides the full cost, parts and labour included, after the diagnosis and before any work begins. Most repairs are backed by a limited warranty of up to 1 year on parts and labour. If the repair cost doesn’t make sense for your unit’s age and condition, the technician will tell you so before you commit.
The general benchmark: if the repair is under 50% of replacement cost and the unit is less than 10 years old, repair is typically the better financial decision. A new dishwasher in Ottawa costs $600 to $1,800 or more installed. Most common repairs run $120 to $380. The exceptions are a failed circulation pump on a unit already over 12 years old, or a cracked tub that makes the whole unit structurally compromised. Capital Appliance Repair technicians give this assessment honestly after every diagnosis. Multiple customers have been told the repair wasn’t worth it before spending a cent on labour.
Standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher after a completed cycle usually comes from one of four sources: a clogged filter that hasn’t been cleaned, a blocked or kinked drain hose, a failed drain pump motor, or a garbage disposal connection that’s blocked at the knockout plug. A clogged filter is a cleaning job with no parts cost. A failed drain pump is a parts and labour repair. Capital Appliance Repair technicians work through the diagnostic sequence from simplest to most complex, which means you’re not paying for a pump replacement when the filter is the actual problem.
Dishwasher leaks have several distinct causes depending on where the water appears. Water in front of the dishwasher door usually comes from a worn door gasket or a door seal that’s shifted out of position. Water under the unit points to a pump seal, an inlet hose connection, or a cracked tub. Overflow from the top of the tub during the fill cycle usually means the float switch that controls water level has failed. Capital Appliance Repair technicians identify the specific leak point before recommending a repair, because the cost and approach varies significantly depending on the source.
A dishwasher that completes a cycle but leaves food residue or film has one of four common problems: clogged spray arm nozzles that can’t distribute water, a failed circulation pump that can’t generate pressure, a blocked filter restricting water flow, or a heating element not reaching temperature. Check the spray arm nozzles first by removing the arms and clearing the holes with a toothpick. If the spray arms are clear and the filter is clean, the issue is likely mechanical. Capital Appliance Repair technicians test the pump output and the heating element to identify which component is causing the cleaning failure.

Yes. We back most dishwasher repairs with a limited warranty of up to 1 year covering both parts and labour. If a repaired component fails within the warranty period, Capital Appliance Repair covers the follow-up at no additional cost. This warranty applies to the specific repair performed, not to separate or unrelated issues that develop independently. Most independent appliance repair companies in Ottawa offer 30 to 90 days on parts only.
A dishwasher that stops partway through a cycle is usually responding to a fault condition detected by its sensors. Common causes include a drainage problem that triggers the float switch before the cycle completes, a door latch that’s intermittently losing contact during the wash, a thermal cutout activating because the motor is running hot, or an error code that halts the cycle when a sensor reads out of range. Capital Appliance Repair technicians read any stored error codes and test the door latch, drainage path, and motor temperature to identify whether the stop is a mechanical or electronic fault before recommending a repair.
Yes. Capital Appliance Repair provides dishwasher installation in Ottawa in addition to repair services. Installation covers the water supply line connection, the drain line routing through the cabinet to the sink drain or garbage disposal, and the electrical connection. The unit is leveled and the door is adjusted before the first test cycle runs. We handle installation on most residential dishwasher models across all major brands. Call (613) 454-1577 to confirm availability for your specific model and installation situation.
Three dishwasher faults require prompt attention rather than a wait-and-see approach. First, active water leaks: even a slow drip under the unit will damage the cabinet floor and subfloor if left running. Second, a dishwasher that trips the circuit breaker: an electrical fault that cuts the breaker is a potential fire risk that shouldn’t be run again until diagnosed. Third, a burning smell during operation: this indicates an electrical component overheating, which is also a fire risk. For any of these three, call Capital Appliance Repair at (613) 454-1577 the same day rather than scheduling it for later in the week.
A dishwasher that smells after a full cycle has one of three root causes. The most common is trapped food debris in the filter or the drain area that doesn’t get flushed out during the drain cycle. The second is standing water that isn’t fully draining, leaving moisture where bacteria can grow. The third is a deteriorating door gasket trapping food and water in its folds. Start by removing and cleaning the filter under the spray arm at the bottom of the tub. If the smell persists after a clean filter and a hot cycle with a cup of white vinegar in the bottom rack, the issue is a drainage problem or a gasket that needs inspection. Capital Appliance Repair technicians can diagnose which of these is causing the odor on a single visit.
