What To Do When Your Dryer Is Not Drying

What To Do When Your Dryer Is Not Drying

Have you ever put a load of laundry in your dryer, only to find that it's not drying your clothes when it's finished? If so, you're not alone. This is a problem that many homeowners face at one point or another. But please do not despair! You can do a few things to get your dryer working properly again.

check the lint trap for any back up of lint in the dryer

Check The Lint Trap

The first thing you should do is check the lint trap. Over time, lint and debris can build up and obstruct the flow of air, which can cause your clothes to come out wet. To clean the lint trap, just remove it from the dryer and empty it into the trashcan. Then, use a brush to remove any remaining lint or debris. Once you have cleaned the lint trap, reinstall it back in place and restart your dryer.

Check The Exhaust Vent

The next thing you should do is check the exhaust vent. The exhaust vent removes hot air and moisture from the dryer. If it becomes blocked or obstructed in any way, that hot air will have nowhere to go but back into the dryer, which can cause your clothes to come out wet. To clean the exhaust vent, simply disconnect it from the dryer and vacuum away any lint or debris. Once you’ve cleaned the exhaust vent, reconnect it and start the dryer again.
