Dishwasher Is Not Getting Water
If you start a wash cycle and your dishwasher does not fill with water, it will do very little to clean your dishes. There might be a variety of causes for why your dishwasher isn’t getting water supply. The door switch must be turned on before the dishwasher fills with water, which is why it’s so essential that the door is fully shut. The problem might be a faulty door switch, but there isn’t a one-size-fits-all remedy because there are several reasons to consider. It’s generally a good idea to hire a professional to inspect it. Here are some of the most common reasons why your dishwasher won’t fill with water: leaking water inlet valve might be preventing the dishwasher from receiving water, faulty float switch may be shutting off the power supply, a broken door switch, broken drain solenoid or a faulty water supply line may be the culprit.
Investigate the Cause of the Problem
The most common reason why a dishwasher does not get water is due to a faulty water inlet valve. The water inlet valve is used to fill the dishwasher with the right amount of hot water and is controlled by a timer. If the water intake valve fails to operate, no water can enter the dishwasher. This valve, which is generally positioned in the front of the dishwasher near the bottom access panel, has a hose that links it to the water supply as well as a hose that exits it for use in the tub of the dishwasher. A tiny plastic piece will float upward when water reaches a dishwasher during a wash cycle. The float is located in the bottom of the dishwasher tub, just under the float switch that sends a signal to the water inlet. If the water inlet valve does not open due to a faulty or disconnected switch, the dishwasher will not get water. When the door is open, a dishwasher door switch is a basic on/off technology that keeps the machine from operating. The dishwasher will not fill with water if the door switch is faulty. A drain solenoid controls the dishwasher drain valve. It may be that the dishwasher is having problems obtaining water because this solenoid is defective. Check the water supply and check the water inlet hose under the sink to make sure it’s connected properly without any obstruction. Make sure the hose tap is openโif you’re not sure which one is open and which one is closed, turn it and run the dishwasher to see if the problem goes away.
